Bandar Puteri Puchong, Selangor

As high-rise living in Asian cities is irreversible in the foreseeable future and common green spaces are getting more limited, The Pulse’s design scheme seeks to challenge this trending scenario. The architecture takes on a modern and cosmopolitan approach to overcome the constraints posed by the already highly dense township of Puchong.

Provisions of accessible and functional open spaces is the primary driver in its design process, including interplay of volumes to expand the perception of these spaces. The varying building components comprising a pair of 40-storey residential towers and a podium with commercial lots below are diffused through an interplay of solids, voids, landscape features and functional open spaces. Crafting the building form involves extrusions of floor plates, expansion of spaces, subtractions to create voids or adding volumes, and terracing of levels for al-fresco opportunities. These moves intend to address and reflect the existing topography, breaking the podium mass and removing unnecessary boundaries to ensure a reactive street frontage of enticing visibility.

Open spaces exclusive to residents are in the two-acre Environment Deck on top of the podium, with zones to create thematic designs. Further landscape strategies are layered to form different enclosures for moments of serenity within the zones. The act of crafting the podium continues with floating and staggering components of the gymnasium and yoga deck on carpark levels. Hence, a bold statement is effectively conveyed via its staggered facilities, retail spaces and green areas to enhance residents’ and patrons’ experiences alike.
